PacificSource Health Plans Provider Network Exceeds 90 Percent Mark

New Agreement Adds St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center as Participating Provider

BOISE, Idaho – PacificSource Health Plans’ customers in the Treasure Valley area now have access to all area medical hospitals as participating network providers. The independent, not-for-profit health plan has expanded its proprietary network by signing a participating provider agreement with St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, including all inpatient and outpatient services at both the Boise and Meridian locations. With the addition of the St. Luke’s facilities, the PacificSource network now includes seven hospitals and approximately 1,600 medical professionals in the Treasure Valley area, representing over 90 percent of the area’s healthcare professionals.

“With the completion of the St. Luke’s agreement, we’re able to offer Boise businesses a truly comprehensive provider network to go along with our group health insurance plans,” says PacificSource Regional Manager Dave Ewers. “Our members have been able to access the St. Luke’s hospitals through our contracted national PPO network for some time, but having a direct contract with both of the major hospital systems strengthens our position.”

PacificSource, which has served Oregon for 75 years, expanded to Boise in May 2007. In July 2007 PacificSource signed an agreement with the Advantage Care Network, including St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, six other area hospitals and affiliated provider groups representing almost 700 providers. In November 2007 the insurer reached an agreement with Select Medical Network of Idaho, an Independent Physician Association (IPA) representing approximately 630 physicians.

According to Ewers, “We anticipate a long and mutually rewarding partnership with these hospitals. We appreciate their confidence in PacificSource – that we’re here to stay and that we’re committed to our mission of helping people get the healthcare they need.”
