PacificSource Health Plans Launches Blog to Engage Communities in Two-way Dialogue About Health

Health Insurance Provider Seeks One Million Individual Ideas In Hopes Of Making One Big Impact On Health Care

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.)—PacificSource Health Plans is out to change health care one individual at a time, and is asking for the community’s help in generating one million individual ideas of how to do so that collectively will amount to one big impact on the health of our communities.

To do so, PacificSource recently launched the blog, a community resource for healthy living tips, a sounding board for ideas, and a virtual suggestion box for how to affect real change in health and health care.

“As with all of PacificSource’s community outreach initiatives, our goal with the blog is to engage individuals in a two-way conversation about health that allows us to talk with them, not at them,” said Colleen Thompson, marketing director for PacificSource Health Plans. “We know a lot about the benefits of healthy living, but we certainly don’t know everything and we believe there is a lot that our members and the community-at-large can tell us using this as a vehicle to do so.”

In addition to regular posts on a variety of topics related to healthy living, one of the core functions is to serve as a platform for individuals to share their stories while also learning from others. To that end, the blog was built on the following principles:

  • It’s going to take more than one idea to improve health care. That’s why we started the One Million Ideas blog. We believe that lots of little changes can add up to one big change in the health of our communities.
  • To make it happen, it’s going to take all of us. It means being proactive with your health: eating better, getting active, finding ways to alleviate stress, kicking tobacco, and most importantly, staying informed on what you can do to live better.
  • We need ideas to make it a reality. Lots of ideas. Our goal is to use this blog to share one million ideas. That’s right, one million. Ideas we can use to help you better understand health care.
  • We want you to tell us what works, what doesn’t work, and the challenges you face every day. We’re seeking solutions to improve the health of ourselves, our families, and our communities. We need your insights, your experiences, your ideas.
  • This blog is a voice we can all share, because the way we see it, we’re all in this thing together.
