PacificSource Health Plans Expands Statewide Network to Include Providence’s Portland-Area Providers

Springfield, Ore. – PacificSource Health Plans has added Providence Health System’s four Portland-area hospitals and two physician groups to its participating provider network, effective Jan. 1, 2006. New participating hospitals include Providence Portland Medical Center, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, Providence Newberg Hospital, and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. The newly contracted, employed physician groups include Providence Medical Group and Providence’s Family Medicine and teaching clinics.

“Providence’s participation in our growing statewide network of contracted providers, hospitals and clinics increases health care access and choice for PacificSource members throughout the Portland metropolitan area,” says Sujata Sanghvi, PacificSource Health Plans’ chief operating officer.

This expansion allows 17,300 PacificSource Health Plans members in the Portland area access to Providence for primary, specialty and hospital care. Providence was already available to PacificSource members outside of the Portland area through PacificSource’s statewide network. Legacy Health System hospitals and OHSU also continue as participating providers in the network.

PacificSource provides insurance coverage to more than 149,000 members through contracts with over 9,000 physicians, physician organizations, medical facilities, hospitals, and other healthcare suppliers statewide.
