Oregon Health Authority Approves Pacificsource Community Solutions As The Coordinated Care Organization For The Columbia Gorge Region, Including Hood River And Wasco Counties

Columbia Gorge Health Council To Govern CCO, Which Will Begin Operations Starting Nov. 1

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.)—The Oregon Health Authority has approved PacificSource Community Solutions, Inc. to contract as a Coordinated Care Organization for the Columbia Gorge Region (Hood River and Wasco counties).

The new CCO is one of 15 that have been approved in Oregon, and will begin operating and serving members starting Nov. 1. PacificSource Community Solutions is also certified as the CCO for the Central Oregon Region (Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties, as well as part of Klamath County), which began serving clients on Aug. 1.

"This is an exciting step forward in our effort to create a more effective health care delivery system that meets the needs of the Columbia Gorge community," said Dan Stevens, chief operating officer for PacificSource Community Solutions, Inc. "The Columbia Gorge Health Council and its partners share a commitment to aligning our organizational interests to create solutions that promote more coordinated care delivery, a focus on wellness and prevention, and a higher level of accountability to actual health outcomes."

Oregon's version of health care reform, CCOs lay the foundation for the way in which care will be coordinated between hospitals, physicians and other providers for the more than 600,000 Oregon Health Plan patients. CCOs provide care for Oregonians enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid, and are the foundation of Oregon’s vision to improve care, achieve better health, and lower costs. Key to the CCOs’ success is the ability to coordinate mental and physical health care and focus on prevention. CCOs will also provide effective support to patients with chronic conditions, ensuring that they are taking appropriate medications and managing their appointments.
