Pacificsource Health Plans Partners with the Portland International Auto Show to Present the “Healthy Life Garage”

Event provides free “preventative maintenance” screenings, tips, activities, and giveaways for the health of Auto Show attendees, while also serving as a key stop on PacificSource’s “Get Out, Get Covered” three-state enrollment tour

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.)—Visitors flock to the Portland International Auto Show each year to check out some of the newest and most high-performance machines on the planet, but there is one machine whose performance people often tend to neglect: their own bodies. To help people get better performance out their most important machine, PacificSource Health Plans is helping people improve the health of their bodies with the PacificSource Healthy Life Garage.

For the fourth year in a row the PacificSource Healthy Life Garage will be at the Portland International Auto Show, February 6-9. The PacificSource Healthy Life Garage gives attendees the chance to get a healthy tune-up with free “preventative maintenance” advice and information. With the timing of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, this year’s Healthy Life Garage will also double as a key stop on PacificSource’s “Get Out, Get Covered” enrollment tour, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions, get information, and even enroll in a health insurance plan ahead of the March 31 deadline.

Servicing more than 12,000 guests over four days, visitors to the PacificSource Healthy Life Garage will receive everything they need to keep their body running strong. Each guest will receive a maintenance checklist they can use to track their performance in several areas of personal health, including nutrition, biometrics, dental, exercise and general health. Attendees will also have fun participating in various activities while enjoy refreshments in the fueling stations.

“It’s important for people treat their bodies with the same amount of care and maintenance you would treat your car with,” said Kenny Weigandt, PacificSource Health Plans’ marketing manager. “From blood pressure checks to biometric screenings to blood sugar tests, we’re going to be able to give Auto Show attendees all the information they need to live a healthy life. In addition, as part of our Get Out, Get Covered Tour, we’ll have a team of experts on site to answer any questions about health insurance. It’s been a confusing year for health insurance, but we’ll be available to put your mind at ease.”

The PacificSource Healthy Life Garage will feature representatives from several Portland Coordinated Care Alliance members, including Rose City Vein Center, Northwest Primary Care, Metro Pediatrics, Pediatric Associates Northwest, Westside Internal Medicine, The Portland Clinic, South Tabor Family Physicians, and the Oregon State Pharmacy Program.
