PacificSource Helps to Ease Strain on Providers

8 Opioid Prescription Tips

As we confront the challenges of COVID-19, we remain focused on how best to serve employers, members, and healthcare providers. Collaboration and partnerships are more important than ever.

In our aim to reduce the spread of the virus while optimizing access to care, we’ve taken steps to suspend certain processes to ease the administrative requirements of our provider partners: At this time, PacificSource has suspended medical authorization and referral requirements through June 30 for providers in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Out of network providers outside of the four state service area will still need to obtain prior authorization for services.. Authorizations will still be required for pharmacy benefits as defined by a member’s plan.

With this administrative change, we are expecting very minimal impact to claims as provider offices and delivery systems have postponed most elective treatments and procedures.

Easing the administrative burden

These emergency plans help ease the administrative requirements for providers and their facilities while bolstering testing and treatment. As we announced to employers and members in mid-March, PacificSource has expanded telehealth services and eliminated member out-of-pocket costs for COVID-19 testing and testing-related visits to provide greater access to care.
