Make a "Done" List

1215_Man writing in notebook_webWe all have to-do lists lurking behind stacks of things to do. But how often do we recognize what we have actually done? To-do lists can be demotivating, add pressure, and distract us from the small victories in our daily life. Instead, make a "done" list, and celebrate positive results to keep you motivated!

At the end of the day or week, try making a done list. Identify the items you have done, whether they were on your list or came up throughout your busy life. Recognize all of your accomplishments! This should be fun, relaxing, and rewarding-not another item on your to-do list!

How to Make a Done List

  1. Find a quiet, calm place that isn't cluttered with to-do list items (not your office or kitchen).
  2. Take a few deep breaths and relax.
  3. Use a nice pen and clean piece of paper.
  4. Think back on the seemingly mundane items you accomplished. Laundry is boring but important!
  5. Identify the smaller steps in a larger, open-end task that you completed.
  6. Take notes of things you have done throughout your day, and add them to your list.
  7. Be creative.
  8. Reread your list.
  9. Pat yourself on the back for all you've done today!
