PacificSource Health Plans Introduces Individual and Family Plans in Idaho

Eugene, Ore. – PacificSource Health Plans announced today that it is now offering individual and family health insurance plans in Idaho. Initially available in the Boise/Treasure Valley and Twin Falls/Magic Valley areas, the plans will become available throughout Idaho in the coming months.

Marketed under the PacificSource BrightIdea name, the plans were developed in partnership with BrightPath, a local, provider-owned health network. The BrightPath network includes more than 3,000 physicians, facilities, and other healthcare professionals throughout Idaho. Participating facilities include some of the largest hospitals in the state, including Kootenai Health, St. Luke's Health System, and Portneuf Medical Center.

“The approach BrightPath is taking is unique in Idaho and it meshes perfectly with our goal of providing quality, affordable care at the local level,” according to President and CEO Ken Provencher. “BrightPath providers are using transparent data, evidence-based medicine, a focus on community health education, and a local, team-based healthcare delivery model to achieve better outcomes at more efficient costs.”

PacificSource was granted licensure and began marketing group health insurance products in Idaho in 2007. It achieved licensure in Washington in January of 2009 and has maintained licensure in Oregon since its inception in 1933.

“With our BrightIdea plans, we are able to bring together the products and services of two organizations committed to improving the health of Idahoans,” according to Dave Ewers, Idaho Regional Manager for PacificSource Health Plans. “We have designed a variety of plan options that offer value and quality in care with coverage that can meet a wide range of needs and budgets.”

“The PacificSource collaboration with BrightPath demonstrates how health insurers and providers can work together to find solutions that deliver a community-based approach to health care in Idaho,” said Janice Fulkerson, Executive Director of BrightPath. “We are very excited about the BrightIdea product as it represents our shared goals in Idaho.”
