Expectations Prenatal Care Program

Having a baby is an exciting time, and it's also a time with some special concerns. Above all you hope for a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby. Studies show that more than half of premature births may be avoided with the right prenatal care. That's what Expectations is all about: helping expectant mothers reduce their risk of delivering early. Expectations is an innovative prenatal program which takes a positive, proactive role in ensuring a healthy baby and mother.

Who's eligible for Expectations?
All subscribers and partners covered under a PacificSource group or individual health plan are eligible for the program at no charge. The program is completely confidential and participation is voluntary.

How do expectant mothers register?
Registration for the program is easy - you can either register online, or call Expectations toll-free at (866) 765-4537. After you register, everything you need to participate will be sent directly to your home. It is important to sign up for Expectations as soon as possible. The earlier in the pregnancy you register, the sooner benefits begin for you and your baby.

How does the program work?
A Expectations prenatal kit is mailed to everyone who registers. The kit includes:

• A book on pregnancy and prenatal care

• Educational materials to help handle the unexpected

• A toll-free phone number to reach a Expectations nurse consultant any time

• A confidential questionnaire to evaluate the risk for potential problems

You and your healthcare provider complete the questionnaire and return it to Expectations for assessment. A Expectations nurse then contacts you by phone to learn more about your pregnancy. The nurse also provides valuable information on how to have a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Throughout the pregnancy, a nurse is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer any questions or special concerns you have. Once the baby is born, you'll receive another gift package.
