PacificSource Health Plans Receives Washington Licensure
Eugene, Ore. – PacificSource Health Plans announced today that it has been granted a Certificate of Authority by the Washington Department of Insurance, enabling the Oregon-based health plan to conduct business in Washington.
“Achieving licensure in Washington is a key step in our growth strategy and our evolution into a major health plan throughout the Northwest,” said Ken Provencher, president and CEO of PacificSource Health Plans. “Licensure is the first step in our expansion into Washington, and we will now focus on expanding our provider network and designing group health insurance products that will meet the needs of Washington employers.”
In anticipation of Washington licensure, PacificSource began establishing direct contracts with Washington healthcare providers with particular emphasis on the Clark County area. The PacificSource network now includes approximately 1,970 physicians and other practitioners and four hospitals and facilities in Washington, mainly in Clark and Cowlitz Counties and the tri-cities area. The company has not yet announced a timeline for marketing its plans in Washington.
PacificSource was granted licensure and began marketing group health insurance products in Idaho in 2007. It has maintained licensure in Oregon since its inception in 1933.
