Who qualifies for group coverage?

State insurance law regulates what types of organizations qualify as a "group" for insurance purposes. In general, businesses must have two or more full-time employees to qualify for group insurance coverage, and some other conditions apply.

What types of group plans are available?

Medical Plans

Idaho businesses have access to PPO (preferred provider organization) group health plans. These plans offer members the widest choice of providers with few restrictions on provider access. Provider reimbursement is based on a fee schedule.

All of the following group product lines offer a variety of copayments and deductibles.

  • Preferred Deductible plans include coverage for alternative and chiropractic care, eye exams, and first-dollar preventive care.
  • Preferred CoDeduct plans provide upfront benefits for frequently used services, such as office visits. The plans include coverage for alternative and chiropractic care, eye exams, and first-dollar preventive care.
  • Preferred HSA plans are eligible for a health savings account (HSA). Like our other Preferred plans, they include coverage for alternative and chiropractic care, eye exams, and first-dollar preventive care. These consumer-directed health plans let you combine a low-cost health plan with a personal healthcare spending account and a debit card. Learn more about consumer-directed health plans.
  • SmartHealth for Business plans deliver value and protection to businesses that take responsibility for their health and the health of their employees. They offer first-dollar preventive care and coverage for prescriptions, chiropractic care, and eye exams.
  • Traditional plans offer first-dollar preventive care and coverage for prescriptions, chiropractic care, and eye exams.

Dental plans

We offer a range of group dental plans with annual deductibles ranging from $25 to $50 per person.

All plans cover:

  • Preventive and diagnostic services
  • Basic dental procedures
  • Major treatments

Members may visit any dentist, and we cover reasonable and customary charges for the area where services are rendered.

Stand-alone dental coverage (without accompanying PacificSource medical coverage) is available to businesses with ten or more employees. Those with two or more employees may purchase a PacificSource dental policy to enhance their PacificSource group medical coverage.
