How Reform May Affect You
Currently, federal agencies are developing regulations to implement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the “PPACA”) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, and to provide clarification and definitions. As regulations are released, we expect to have a better understanding of the full extent of the changes and how they will be implemented, as well as their impact on individuals, employers, and the insurance industry.
While many questions about healthcare reform remain unanswered at present, our goal is to provide helpful resources for all our customers and to keep you as informed as possible. We will be updating and adding more information to this site on an ongoing basis.
In the meantime, please read our Summary of Changes - 2010, which outlines changes to be implemented this year, as well as our FAQ: Healthcare Reform – General Information. We’ve also compiled a list of online resources to help you find additional information. You are also encouraged to sign up for our Healthcare Reform E-Update, a newsletter containing up-to-the-minute news.
Our Position on Healthcare Reform
At PacificSource, our mission is simple: helping people get the healthcare they need. We support access to effective healthcare for all Americans and have worked for several years to support well-reasoned and effective healthcare reform. We will continue to work with our state partners to expand access, implement effective reform measures, control insurance premiums, and provide as much choice and flexibility as possible for our members.
PacificSource has taken a leadership role in many healthcare reform efforts in the Northwest over the last several years. Our executive and leadership staff members have been actively involved in the Archimedes Movement, the Oregon Health Reform Collaborative, the 100% Access Healthcare Initiative, HealthMatters of Central Oregon, Project Access NOW, and the delivery systems committee of the Oregon Health Fund Board. We're participants and collaborators in many other local, grassroots initiatives as well.
We continue to support efforts that seek to achieve a solution that is fiscally sustainable and that serves to improve health by expanding access to fundamental healthcare services to more individuals.
