Step 4: Get the most value from your coverage.

To get the most value from the plan you’ve chosen, make sure you’re taking full advantage of its services.

  • Take classes. If your plan offers wellness classes or workshops, take them!
  • Use your FSA, HRA, or HSA. If you have a flexible spending account, health reimbursement arrangement, or health savings account, use it. To get the most value out of your FSA, deposit the amount closest to what you will spend in qualified healthcare costs. Each year, make sure to use your remaining FSA funds before January or you could lose them.
  • Stay informed. Read member newsletters and other written information. Take advantage of online health tools and resources, such as health risk assessments. Awareness and prevention are the foundation for a healthy life.
  • Make health and wellness a priority. Follow preventive strategies recommended by your health insurer and your doctor. Programs, online tools, and other resources can help you reach your goal, whether it’s disease management, quitting smoking, a healthy pregnancy, or weight management.
