Volume 2, Issue 12: December 17, 2007 Last week we announced that after January 1, we will be adding Elect Premiere, Preferred, and Value Option plans to our individual product line and will no longer offer the Plus and Value plans for sale. Letters have been mailed to all individual policyholders notifying them of the plan changes, rate changes and new options that are available. Members on the current Plus and Value plans can stay on those plans until March 31, 2008. If they do not choose another plan by then, we will automatically transfer them to the new plan that most closely resembles their current coverage at that time (the default plan). Members will have until March 31 to contact our Individual Department if they would like to choose an alternative Elect plan. Our individual plan matrix shows our 2007 discontinued plans and corresponding default plans for 2008. New Elect print materials have been approved by the Oregon Insurance Division and are in production. Copies will be available from your PacificSource Individual Sales Representative by the beginning of the year. In the meantime, you can click on the links below to view PDFs of the new materials.
Your clients and prospects can also apply for the new plans online through your PacificSource Agent iStore. See the August 13 ElectNews for more information about Agent iStore. If you have questions about our Elect plans, please feel free to contact your PacificSource Individual Sales Representative or our Individual Department. AlternaCare Savings Program Complements Elect Benefits As you may have heard, beginning January 1, all PacificSource medical members will have access to a new value-added benefit: the AlternaCare Savings Program. We have partnered with Reliant Behavioral Health to provide this new discount program for alternative care services, which will replace our Healthyroads™ amenity program. All our members can take advantage of discounts and find information on alternative healthcare topics through our PacificSource AlternaCare Web page. Even Elect Premiere and Elect Preferred plan members with naturopathy, chiropractic, and acupuncture benefits will appreciate the savings and online wellness resources. Members can access the PacificSource AlternaCare area of our Web site for links to discounts and wellness resources, including:

PacificSource Celebrates 75 Years of Service In 2008, PacificSource Health Plans will mark its 75th anniversary. We’re planning several special community events and promotions to celebrate this milestone throughout the year, and we’ll keep you informed as those plans take shape. You’ll soon see the anniversary noted on some of our print materials as well. PacificSource was founded on April 12, 1933, by a group of 21 physicians in Eugene, Oregon. Today, we provide medical and dental benefits to more than 4,000 employers and cover more than 150,000 people in the Northwest with our group and individual health insurance plans. Read more about our history and the growth of our organization by visiting the Our History area of our Web site. Oregon FHIAP No Longer Accepting Applications Due to new federal fund limitations, Oregon’s Family Health Insurance Assistance Program (FHIAP) is no longer able to accept applications. Additionally, any group or individual applications currently in process, will not be completed at this time. A recent letter from FHIAP details the impact of the funding changes and suggests additional resources for your clients. Our Individual Department is happy to work with your clients to help them find an affordable plan that meets their needs. For more information, please contact your PacificSource Individual Sales Representative, or e-mail our Individual Department at individual@pacificsource.com. This month, our annual Member Bulletin (Oregon, Idaho) mails to PacificSource policyholders. The issue includes a notice of our privacy policy and information on mastectomy-related benefits, in compliance with state and federal notice requirements. The Oregon Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) requires group health plans and health insurers to provide an annual notice of the act’s mandated benefits to all Oregon members. PacificSource satisfies this requirement through our annual member newsletter that mails to members each December. We will be closed for Christmas on December 24 and 25. We will also close at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time on New Year’s Eve, December 31, and be closed for New Year’s Day, January 1. All of us at PacificSource wish you PAHU Member Event Portland Association of Health Underwriters will host a CE seminar on December 19 in Portland, Oregon.
