Issue 5: July 12, 2006 PacificSource Launches Elect
Alternative We are pleased to offer our Elect Alternative Plan Offerings to qualifying individual policy applicants effective July 1. When an applicant meets certain medical underwriting criteria, we may offer an alternative plan to applicants who are denied an Elect policy. All offers will be within the same plan design as the applicant's initial request, but with a higher deductible. For example, if an applicant applies for the Elect Plus $500 and is declined, our Underwriting Department will review the application. In certain circumstances we may offer a higher deductible plan such as Elect Plus $5,000. The applicant will be sent a letter of denial for the initial application (as per state regulation), including an offer of an alternative plan within the same family of products. The applicant has ten business days to accept the offer. If the applicant does not accept within that stipulated time, the offer will be closed. The applicant may reapply for coverage at a later date. The offer of an alternative plan is not guaranteed as all denied applicants do not automatically qualify for an Alternative Plan Offering. Please also note that if the applicant is FHIAP eligible, there are no FHIAP qualifying plan alternatives available due to FHIAP limitations.
