PacificSource Launches Elect Alternative
Plan Offerings

We are pleased to offer our Elect Alternative Plan Offerings to qualifying individual policy applicants effective July 1. When an applicant meets certain medical underwriting criteria, we may offer an alternative plan to applicants who are denied an Elect policy. All offers will be within the same plan design as the applicant's initial request, but with a higher deductible. For example, if an applicant applies for the Elect Plus $500 and is declined, our Underwriting Department will review the application. In certain circumstances we may offer a higher deductible plan such as Elect Plus $5,000. The applicant will be sent a letter of denial for the initial application (as per state regulation), including an offer of an alternative plan within the same family of products. The applicant has ten business days to accept the offer. If the applicant does not accept within that stipulated time, the offer will be closed. The applicant may reapply for coverage at a later date.

The offer of an alternative plan is not guaranteed as all denied applicants do not automatically qualify for an Alternative Plan Offering. Please also note that if the applicant is FHIAP eligible, there are no FHIAP qualifying plan alternatives available due to FHIAP limitations.

The PacificSource Advantage
Top Five reasons to sell PacificSource
Elect products

Reason #5: Our copays apply toward out-of-pocket limits. Did you know that we are the only health insurance carrier that allows copays and deductibles for preventive care and regular office visits to be applied toward the member's out-of-pocket limit?

It's true. Other carriers allow only deductibles to go toward out-of-pocket limits, but PacificSource goes one step further. This means that members will be able to accumulate their out-of-pocket money faster and reach their maximums sooner.

Missed Reason #4? You'll find it in the June 14 issue of ElectNews. For previous PacificSource Advantages , go to http://www.pacificsource.com/for_agents_N.html

Shalee Bearden: Calmer of the Storm

Shalee Bearden is a professional young woman who has worked her way up the ranks since she began working for PacificSource in 2001. Through her strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to take on additional work responsibilities, she has been promoted several times and today is an Individual Sales Representative with our Individual Sales Department. Shalee takes about 40 to 50 calls a day from agents and members. She answers questions about the status of applications, termed policies, premium quotes, and changes to benefits and deductibles. Shalee says the best part of her job is talking with agents and members. "I'm a very friendly person. I like to make people happy. If there is anything I can do to make their day better, I'm on it."

That's exactly how her friends describe her—bubbly and friendly. "I wish that I could make everyone happy," says Shalee. "I am always checking in with my friends and family to see if things were okay and whether there's anything I can do to make things better for them. I am the calmer of the storm."

But how does Shalee keep herself happy? "I love shopping! It's my therapy after a long day at work." Shalee also loves to dance. She was in a salsa dance group for several years and performed

around Eugene . But it got to be too hectic with a full-time job. Now, Shalee pacifies her dancing feet by going dancing every Thursday with her best friend, her mom!

Next time you call the Individual Sales Department, you may get the pleasure of speaking with Shalee, the calmer of the storm.
