The Free & Clear® Quit For Life® Program Helps Heart Health February is Heart Health Month, making it the perfect time to review our value-added Free & Clear® Quit for Life® Program. Smoking increases the likelihood of heart disease, blood vessel problems, stroke, disability, and death. Through this program, our medical members have access to professionally trained Quit Coaches who can help them quit tobacco successfully. With Free & Clear the chances of quitting successfully are six times better than quitting cold turkey. We’ve just added new materials to our Web site that employers can download and post in their workplaces. For more information about the Free & Clear program, visit the For Agents/Materials/Member Materials area of our Web site. You’ll find these Free & Clear fliers under the Value-Added Programs: Smoking and Heart Disease, Missed Resolutions, Preparing to Quit, overview*, questions & answers, and reasons to quit. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your PacificSource Client Service Representative. Pharmacies Alerted to Easily Confused Drugs This month, as part of a collaborative effort to promote excellence in healthcare, PacificSource and Health Net Health Plan of Oregon are communicating by letter with pharmacy professionals about strategies to help prevent medication errors. The letter alerts all our pharmacy partners to several similar medication names that may be misread or misheard. Darvon and Diovan, or Protonix and Protopic, are just two examples of several sound-alike or spelled-alike drugs. We also offer strategies to prevent pharmacy errors, such as spelling the product name and repeating essential information for phone orders. This communication is one of the ways PacificSource is proactive in safeguarding the health of members. Whether we are helping an employer set up a workplace wellness program, or providing free online tools and information for members through our Web site, we seek to ensure the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve. Our offices will be closed in observance of Presidents’ Day on February 18. PacificSource Sponsors CE Classes in Eugene and Portland PacificSource-sponsored CE Classes are scheduled for February 26 in Eugene and February 28 in Portland.
