Margee Bacon Dishes Up Good Service at SBA
From setup to day-to-day service, Client Services Manager Margee Bacon is involved in all aspects of serving group clients at Select Benefit Administrators (SBA), a PacificSource company. Each day, Margee focuses on the needs of her customers, helping people get the information they need and understand benefits. “My customers can be the group, the agent, the stop loss carrier, the pharmacy benefit manager, or the provider,” she says. “My job is to keep all my customers happy.” |

Margee first entered the insurance industry in 1975. She administered a self-funded plan for Les Schwab Tire Centers. Self funding for medical, dental, vision, and workers' compensation benefits was a leading-edge concept at that time. Later, after moving to Portland, Oregon, she worked for a third party administrator (TPA) and another insurance carrier before joining SBA. Self-funding has always been her favorite aspect of the industry, and a commitment to service her guiding light.
Although born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Margee has traveled throughout the Northwest. She attended college at Washington State University in Pullman, and has lived in Grangeville, Pomeroy, Klamath Falls, Burns, and Prineville. She likes to travel, camp, and enjoy the outdoors, as well as read and watch sports. Every year, she travels with her family—her husband, five children, nine grandchildren, and one dog (named Pepper Bacon)—to the Oregon Coast for a big family gathering. Margee is a clam chowder chef extraordinaire and cooks chowder for the whole crowd of more than fifty family members and friends.
Whether serving chowder or serving customers, Margee follows the motto “don't promise more than you can deliver, but deliver more than you promise.” Her relationships with customers are based on mutual respect and honesty. She always goes the extra mile to make sure clients' needs are met, and is always looking for ways to improve our service. “I truly believe that if you listen to the individual and treat them with dignity and respect, you can resolve most issues.”
Select Benefits Administrators provides a broad range of administrative services to employers who opt to self-fund their employee health benefits. Visit them online at www.selectadmin.com.
