PacificSource Charitable Foundation
One way PacificSource helps local communities is by supporting an active, vital charitable foundation. Since its incorporation in 1992, the PacificSource Charitable Foundation has assisted thousands of people through grants to numerous nonprofit organizations.
The purpose of our Foundation is to provide resources and funds for the health and welfare of the underserved, and lessen the burden on government in this regard. Our mission is to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations working to improve health status and meet healthcare needs in the communities PacificSource serves, with an emphasis on children and youth. The Foundation's vision is to:
- Fund programs and projects that address the healthcare needs of children and youth in communities PacificSource Health Plans serves;
- Develop and implement strategies for assisting the uninsured and underinsured, particularly children and youth; and
- Work in partnership with PacificSource and its many business partners and customers, including physicians, other healthcare providers, and insurance agents.
In 2010, the PacificSource Charitable Foundation granted a total of $558,257 to 29 Northwest nonprofit organizations dedicated to increasing access to healthcare and improving the health of communities PacificSource Health Plans serves.
2010 Foundation recipients included healthcare safety net clinics and other initiatives aimed at improving access to needed healthcare services, including behavioral and oral health. Our grants have funded school-based health centers, community-sponsored clinics and health centers, rural health clinics, local health departments, and other nonprofit health and human service agencies offering access to affordable and needed services to low-income individuals and families.
